Lesson Assignments: Quarter 3 lesson assignments will be a mini concert on an assigned piece of music from our Pyramid concert packet or from the book. Students are to be practicing the Pyramid concert music almost every night so that they are well prepared for our performance at Beville. Almost all assignments will be completed in class.
Students are expected to be able to fluently read the D string notes at this time and by the end of February the A string notes. All bow holds should look like the picture in the book and/or the pictures in the files/documents section.
For all instrument bows; all thumbs must be bent outward with the tip of the thumb on the stick under the middle finger.
Pyramid Concert: 28 March 2017. Beville Ms. 6:15 P.M. Students arrive at 5:45 P.M. for tuning.
5th grade Music Field Trip: 29 March 2017. Hylton Performing Arts Center. 9:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. All 5th graders are invited to attend and the performance ensemble is "Quinn Tango."
Solo & Ensemble Festival: 26 April 2017. Voluntary event at Benton Middle School. All students are encouraged to attend. Music to perform: 2 songs from Suzuki book one, or two of the following choices: Mary Had a Little Lamb-F# and F natural, Ode to Joy, Old Joe Clark, and Sailor's Song. Students may perform individually, duet (2), trio (3) or quartet (4). I recommend solo/individual performances as performing with others may be difficult to keep together.
Spring String Concert: 12 June 2017. 6:30 P.M. King Elementary School Cafeteria.
Students should have an instrument and the method book, "Measures of Success" everyday for class. Books are available at Music and Arts and Dale City Music Store, or on-line!
